Apophyllite was first reported in 1806 by the French mineralogist R.J. Haüy who named it for its tendency to exfoliate when heated under a blowpipe; Apophyllite derives from the Greek words meaning "get" and "leaf". While most specimens of Apophyllite are found in Pune, India, it can also be found in other parts of the world including Europe, North America, and South Africa.
Apophyllite is a mineral composed of potassium, fluorine, and calcium silicate hydroxide. It typically forms in pseudo-cubic crystals, granular masses, natural pyramidal structures or as druse upon another mineral. Apophyllite has a hardness rating of 4.5 - 5 on the Mohs scale and its color ranges from transparent to opaque white, green, yellow, or rose tinted varieties which may contain Iron oxide (hematite) inclusions resulting in black colored stones.
Apophyllite is a powerful metaphysical crystal that can help to open the connection between our physical and spiritual realms. It facilitates attunement to one's body, as well as higher dimensional life forms, enabling us to recognize and act upon the truth in all situations. Apophyllite also encourages mindful analysis tinged with universal love while helping us realize that perfection is our natural state of being. By using this crystal, we can access astral travel, gain insight into Akashic records, communicate with those in spirit form, and even explore past lives. Additionally, it produces a reflective aspect that allows for the recognition of our behavior or attitudes so that we may seek out any deficiencies and improve ourselves energetically. Lastly, gazing into an apophyllite stone can give us glimpses into our future paths ahead.
